Professor Zhipeng Cai was recently named a Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a leading professional society for computer scientists. In elevating him to the Distinguished Member grade, ACM cited his contributions to “data acquisition, collection, computation, and publication in wireless networks.”
Dr. Cai is the only current Georgia State faculty member to have won this honor. Two former CS faculty members, Dr. Raheem Beyah and Dr. Sushil Prasad, are also ACM Distinguished Members.
An ACM Distinguished Member must have at least 15 years of professional experience and five years of Professional ACM Membership in the last 10 years. In addition, the member must have significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field. Also, a Distinguished Member is expected to have served as a mentor and role model to younger professionals.
Dr. Cai joined Georgia State in 2011. He is an IEEE Fellow and the recipient of an NSF CAREER award. Dr. Cai serves as the director of Georgia State’s INSPIRE center and leads the Innovative Computing and Networking (ICN) group. His current research interests include machine learning, privacy and security, large language models, and big data.
