- Biography
Dr. Sudha Tushara Sadasivuni earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia State University under the mentorship of Dr. Yanqing Zhang, with support from the Brains & Behavior Fellowship. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a B.Tech. in Computer Science from Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (Autonomous), India.
Her research focuses on developing machine learning algorithms to assess the mental health status of Twitter users. She has built interactive frameworks that analyze tweets, compute a Happiness Index, and visualize sentiment trends across U.S. states. Her work, which incorporates techniques in sentiment analysis, text mining, and hedonometrics, is benchmarked against external datasets such as WalletHub’s daily reports.
Dr. Sadasivuni previously served as a faculty member at Arizona State University, where she contributed to both teaching and research in computer science. She is passionate about interdisciplinary education and mentorship and encourages students to pursue research aligned with their interests. She also focuses on helping software engineering students work well in teams and solve problems together so they can develop both technical and communication skills. She has guided several undergraduate groups during their capstone projects.
